Friday 16 – Day 0
Our Belgian team arrived later in the evening, just in time for dinner. Afterward, we participated in the opening ceremony, which marked the official start of the YOTA Summer Camp. The ceremony included welcoming speeches, an introduction to the camp’s agenda, and an opportunity to meet the other participants.
Following the ceremony, we had some free time. We decided to set up our TETRA BTS station and took the chance to chat with other team members, getting to know them better and sharing our plans for the week ahead.
Saturday 17 – Day 1
The day starts. Most of the opportunities are in the morning to be connected, for example, Ice Breakers outside the Dormitory. Later, we attended a presentation by Milan OK2IMH on SMD soldering, followed by another interesting session on Czech ARDF. Those presentations were really interesting as there were a lot of examples and showcases to explain.
There will be lunch. Workshop on ARDF outside the residence, where 6 balises were to be tracked and located: Teams with which we worked—Argentina. Eating activity or free time.
From there, it was workshops for the rest of the day—QTH Operating, and station explanation (though we had to duck out early)—preparing for tonight’s special: a Lego Workshop where one member has to build something and give directions to the other using a radio, and Rocket building, really offering something for every interest. As dusk set in, the team would set up tables in the main hall and start preparing some foods special to their country. This would continue into the Intercultural Evening, a highlight of the event where everyone gets to share their culture through food and stories. The evening ended with some free time and everyone being full.
We brought in many types as Team Belgium: Fries, Waffles, Chocolate, and Speculoos.
